Chrome Overtakes IE in Browser Share

Looks like its finally happening…. Internet Explorer is no longer the world’s most popular internet browser!  I am not a fan on Internet Explorer, as most folks that know me have heard me say many times, so this is very good news.

Of course, this all depends on who you ask right?  I was looking at StatCounter’s Global Stats for Top 5 Browsers on June 2012.

Its a pretty narrow “winning” margin, but it is a very good sign.  With Firefox coming in 3rd place at about 26%, and Safari coming in at 7%, modern browsers are now almost 70% of the market.  This is very good news for anyone that does web development work or has fought Internet Explorer trying to get it to display content.  My hope is that this will give Microsoft a wake up call and encourage them to fix some of the issues with IE.

So what do you guys think?  Do you still use IE as your main browser?  Why or why not?
